The Cinema Advertising Association recently published the UK admissions total for June.
Ticket sales for the month stood at 12,476,548, 5.5% higher than June last year and the best performance for the month since 2002 (see Figure 1 below).
That brings the total for the first six months of the year to 83,459,466 admissions, 14.5% up on the first half total for 2008.
If this keeps up the year end total should fall comfortably in the region of 172-175 million admissions, possibly more. July is shaping up well with Harry Potter, Ice Age 3, Bruno et al. The question is: will 2009 top 2002?
